Stress Resources- Mental Stress
Intervention, Mental
Suggestions on how to manage our mental needs.

Mental Intervention:
Better yet, intervene by preventing unnecessary/inappropriate stress responses from being activated in the first place (eg. perception, self-awareness, act to eliminate situation/duration of situation, reduce stimuli, practice assertiveness, adopt a coping mindset, master skills that promote relaxation or prevent stress escalations, increase control/safety/social supports, etc.,)

Continual large doses of these chemicals can negatively affect our brain, accelerate brain aging, and even speed the onset of dementia in those prone to it.  Excess cortisol has also been linked to memory lapses, anxiety, and inability to control emotional outbursts.

Our perception of the stressful event makes a difference in how much of these hormones are released.  If the stressful event is perceived as being “manageable” then lots of noradrenaline is released for a very strong and fast fight/attack/defend response.  This gives a very sharp and high increase in heart rate and blood pressure.  Frequent activation of this fight response with feelings of anger, rage, or hostility has been linked to cardiovascular health problems.

Mental Awareness:
Non-judgmental or bare awareness allows us to see the negative thought tendences. Be first knowing this reactive habit we slowly start to change the habital reactions that release cortisal and other chemicals into our blood streams.

Mental Caring:
The good news is that by simply adding a caring intention in the mind. The brain will start to release serotonin and other happy hormones into the blood stream.
